They're outstanding, and they're much more fun than the more sterile, "historical re-creation" band. And they do some Gabriel songs too. Woohoo! smiley

When they played "Twilight Alehouse" and "The Serpent" the lead singer said, "These are songs from 1969, but we're going to do them the way Genesis might have performed them in 1973." It was very cool.

NICE!!! Way to go Henry. cool. For some reason I thought you were going to be out of town for this, but glad you'll be going. Even if it isn't in your favorite venue. wink

I've heard nothing but great things about this AmericanaramA tour so far. Some pretty neat colaborations. So far none with Dylan, but all the others have been doing some. Including MMJ and Wilco doing some Neil Young, and George Harrison together. cool

Sorry for the spoiler, and I hope you get something really good at your show.

I'll be seeing this tour twice. On the 19th, and 28th. Might go on the 26th too, if the 19th gets me needing a third fix! grin

Got a decent seat, center section, just behind and above the lower "pit" area. It's going to be a long show, and I just want to sit back and soak it all in.

Gee, thanks. rolleyes

Mark Knopfler played along for a couple of songs with Dylan when I saw them back in November. But Dylan can be an enigmatic character, so I wasn't expecting him to hobnob with the young'uns. grin

You are going to The Molson Ampitheatre? shocked

I just looked at the listings there, who knew that The Jonas Brothers and Backstreet Boys were still touring. grin

Next gig for me is The Eagles this Thursday.

Never Forever (Kate Bush tribute), Friday 12th July, Ruislip.

And either

Limehouse Lizzy (Thin Lizzy tribute), Thursday 11th July, Watford

or

Counterfeit Quo (Status Quo tribute), Saturday 13th July, Ruislip.

Can't make both of the last two for various reasons. wink

My brother went to the Portland Blues Festival this weekend. Last night, Robert Plant performed as headliner. My brother phoned me so I could listen to a couple of songs.

I've got to say that Plant was in top form. He sounded great! Songs I heard were Zeppelin's "Going To California" and Plant's solo song "In The Mood" from his 1983 album Principle Of Moments.

If anyone reading this is not familiar with this album, it's very good. Phil Collins plays drums on most tracks on this album, as well as Plant's 1982 album Pictures At Eleven, which is also quite good.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting him to either. Bob Weir opened the first four shows with an accoustic set, and he joined MMJ, and Wilco a few times. I thought if Dylan had anyone join him it would be Bob, but it never happened.

Good idea on the seat. I grabbed a pit tix, and figured I could always go sit on the lawn after rocking the rail for Jacket. wink supposedly the stage changes are done pretty smoothly, and quick, but still a bit of a long night. Thompson plays for 30 minutes, MMJ, and Wilco get 75 each, and Dylan 90.

Are you a fan of Richard Thompson? I have friends who are, and thought his short set was great. He joined one of the bands the other night for a tune, but I'll hold off on any more spoilers unless you want to know.

Enjoy the show, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the night.

Enjoy the show. I'm sure it'll be filled with some great classics.

I've seen them a couple of times going back a few years, wink and they were great, but I've passed on seeing them since they reunited for the Hell Freezes Over tour. They were the first band to crack the $100 threshold for ticket prices on that tour, and I've boycotted them ever since.
