Fair enough. Still a pity about the wasted travel.

Not really a gig, but going to the David Bowie Exhibition at the V&A this Friday (28th), looking forward to it.

I got home at 18.55 last night, managed to get changed and out again to catch the 19.04 train to Manchester and, half hour later, found myself outside the venue only to find the gig had been cancelled sad

You were lucky my mate and I had tickets AND considering the information I found (see below) it was PISS POOR all round!!!!

Well...every silver lining would appear to have a cloud: after the success of the London show, the Manchester gig with Tin Spirits and Matt Stevens has sadly had to be cancelled due to poor ticket sales, making it too expensive to warrant the cost of venue hire/hotels/van hire etc etc. A real shame after so many of you came to the Borderline, but perhaps it's just another sign of the difficult times we live in.

Must have just missed you we arrived about 7.45ish to find the shutters down. I still cannot begin to explain how angry/pissed off I was on Friday night, when I found out it had been cancelled 6 days previously!!!

The economic climate might have played a part, but the lack of PROMOTION/ADVERTISING won't have helped!! angry

You must've been walking away as I was walking to the venue. We may even have passed each other.

I would've thought that either the venue or the site you bought the tickets off would've notified you as soon as they found out that the gig was cancelled.I hope you managed to get a refund.

I ended up in the train station bar with a pint of John Smiths for company, while waiting for the train home

Cloud Busting (Kate Bush tribute), Ruislip, Friday 12th July.

The second of these sounds particularly intriguing as I imagine it must be very hard to perform and sound like Kate.

I may go see The Eagles next month, I'm going to watch the documentary first and then make up my mind.

DAMN.

I just found out that Aimee Mann, one of my very favorite musical artists, and whose most recent album is her best yet, is playing a concert on Oct. 11 in a gorgeous little auditorium ten minutes from my office. Tickets go on sale tomorrow--so I could probably get great seats, and the top ticket price is $37.50.

So what's the problem? Errrr... I'm seeing Steve Hackett that night. undecided

Now you're probably saying, "WTF, Dust? It's Steve Hackett!" The thing is... for that show I'll be driving two hours to pick up my son at college, then three hours to Philadelphia, than an hour home, and then at some point that weekend driving five hours to return the boy to school. It would just be sooooooo much better to leave work, meet my wife at the Aimee Mann show, and be done with it. Besides... Hackett's just gonna play a bunch of old, long songs that I've heard countless times before. tongue

DAMN DAMN.
