Yeah, she has a kind of nervous energy when she performs, which can be exciting at first, but can wane after a little while.

I saw her for the first time on her last tour and really enjoyed it. She has a great voice and puts on a decent show. So I made a point of seeing her this time around. Her new album is excellent.

Overall, I enjoyed the concert. I was disappointed that she didn't play a certain song off of her new album that is a particular favorite of mine, despite doing it for other shows on this tour. Her band was O.K. Too much hopping around and head bobbing going on, but I guess that's the "cool" thing to do these days. I think her music deserves a better band. Nice acoustic set for the encore though.

Having said that, I absolutely hate the venue, and probably won't go back unless it's a MUST SEE artist (like PG doing acoustic Genesis in full costume). The sound was awful. It was muffled and screechy. Alanis has a kind of edge to her singing voice that the sound tended to emphasize, making it difficult to understand. That and other things I won't get into.

Anyway, to sum up: Very good concert, crap hole of a venue.

Thanks Henry. I feel the same way about that venue.

Will have to checkout her new album..

Would quite like to see a Stranglers tribute or even the originals. Bought Rattus Norvegicus on vinyl and loved it wink

Straighten Out were excellent last night. That said, they only played early material from about 1977-79. I would like to have heard later stuff such as Golden Brown, Strange Little Girl, Skin Deep and Always The Sun. I guess that early punk-era Stranglers is cool, whilst later more mellow Stranglers isn't. wink The bass player and keyboard player were especially good and the latter apparently had the same keyboard rig as Dave Greenfield in the 1970s. It would have done any prog rock band proud. And having said that, The Stranglers are one band that at times almost fuse together the polar opposite sounds of punk and prog. shocked cool Highlight of the evening? Gotta be No More Heroes for me - always loved that track. smiley

Saw Stranglers in Sheffield at Top Rank in the 70's. It used to take me a lot to save for gigs back them was still at school.

They played for 45 minutes. 'Technical problems'.....me thinks somebody too stoned was real issue.

Lost respect there. Loved the album with the rat though, but I felt ripped off by them so...meh.

I wasn't there last night but did see the setlist. It sure looked good to me. Played at least one song from every E St. album except Tunnel Of Love, and some say that's debatable it's an E St. album.

Ya know, it's always good for me, and even though I quit years ago, I always feel like I want a smoke after a Bruce show. wink

Here's a video from one of the encores. Dancing In The Dark, with Bruce taking a nice little tumble at around the 5:15 mark. Definitely looked like that left a mark. wink

Excellent night all around. User Image But hey, it was Bruce, so...ya know...

Late that afternoon I found out than an old friend of mine (probably my oldest friend), who lives in Calgary, was in town and going to the show. So, we got together for drinks beforehand. cool

Show started later than expected: 8:25. Bruce and the band seemed to be having a great time throughout the entire concert. Lots of audience interaction. One guy had a request for "I'm Goin' Down" because he just broke up with his girlfriend. Bruce asked him, "So, what happened?". The guy explained, and then Bruce said he needed a hug, got him up on stage and gave him a great big hug, with Little Stevie standing by holding his heart and shaking his head. Classic stuff. grin

During "Rosalita" (I believe) Bruce fell, face first, when he missed a step going from the lower section of the stage to the main stage. At first it looked bad, but Bruce turned it into a hilarious moment. He was OK, but obviously embarrassed. By the time he got up and back to singing he couldn't stop laughing.

The concert was exactly three hours long. Lots of requests. Some great moments with the young kids. I think it was one of my favorite shows, behind MSG, Philly and my first show.

You woulda loved it Eric. cool

Never say never Lily. The tour is rumored to go on well into 2013. A bit of a break for the Holidays/winter then back out there.

Getting you to a Bruce show is a mission I don't plan on failing. wink

Edit for a little clip of a Bruce crowd surf in Hamilton that comes right into your living room.
