Well i think you can wink

The funny thing with the Floyd (and their tribute bands) as that you generally get the same tracks over and over and over again and you realise after a while that Floyd had a run of 4 or 5 classic albums that tribute bands constantly play and it just gets boring after a while. You just know that all the sets are going to end with Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb.

Genesis might not have sold as many albums as Pink Floyd but they sure had more variety for tribute bands to pick from wink

My experience is very different to yours. wink I have seen about half a dozen Pink Floyd tribute bands and between them, they have covered material from most albums from Piper At The Gates Of Dawn to The Division Bell. A majority of the half dozen or so Genesis tribute bands I have seen seem to think there is little material worth playing before Foxtrot or after Wind And Wuthering. wink

This is one where I'm going to have to disagree with you, Nov wink. As with Genesis tributes, there are many lesser known Floyd songs which are played by tribute bands and it's often these which I enjoy, hearing live, the most. Think Floyd played songs from 9 albums, plus a B side of a single and finished with Wish You Were Here before Comfortably Numb wink. One of my favourites on Friday was Astronomy Domine, rarely heard live but timeless and majestic grin.

I would agree that the Aussie Floyd and Britfloyd often finish with the 2 songs you state and that repetition does seem a shame but they do play songs from 10-12 albums most nights that I've seen them (at least once every year). I've never, ever felt bored listening to live Floyd (or Genesis), as long as it's played well smiley

Don't fret. As long as it's quality over quantity. wink

As D&O says, don't worry - it's not a competition! I have quite a few gigs lined up over the next few weeks but in a way that's just coincidence. Between my last gig in 2011 (Carpet Crawlers, Dartford) there was a three month 'famine' to my first 2012 gig, G2 at the Robin. It's been 5 weeks since my last gig but luckily only just over a week to go to my next, G2 in High Wycombe.

But time-wise I'm lucky 'cos I don't have lectures to attend and presumably assignments to hand in... wink

Lucky you. One gig a month. I do not go to more, than 3 or 4 gigs a year, one of which being the inevitable annual IQ gig. The reason is, that in the region, where I live, there are hardly any prog gigs around. I always have to travel long distances.

If I was living in the region of London, I would probably hang out at The Peel in Kingston upon Thames constantly.

No, I wasn't on the forum then although I'd been 'lurking' and reading messages for a while - it was a bit after that when I took the plunge and joined the forum.

I do remember seeing you there though, I was loitering with Sue / Choccy, Lesley / Gabble, Heather / Bluegirl and Jean / SirensCry. Hopefully I'll see you at another gig in the not too distant future...not sure where you live but if it's in the south half of the M25 area, G2 are playing Redhill in June....
