The Floyd Effect, tomorrow. cool

Great band. cool The setlist was as follows:

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-VII)
What Do You Want From Me
In The Flesh
Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)
Mother
Young Lust
Take It Back
Pigs On The Wing (Part 1)
Dogs
----------
The Dark Side Of The Moon (all of it)
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb
----------
Run Like Hell

As well as being excellent musicians, the lead singer is a David Gilmour soundalike even though he was suffering from a cold last night. wink

The Queen tribute, A Kind of Queen, was extraordinary! cool Absolutely extraordinary - even better than the Genesis tribute in my opinion. cool

The sound quality was perfect, the music was note-perfect (not a single mistake was made through the whole show) the atmosphere was fantastic, the setlist was BURSTING with brilliant material - so much that I wouldn't be able to recall all the songs - there were lots of medleys, too. One medley which was very clever was a medley of five songs: Don't Stop Me Now/Bicycle Race/Save Me/Breakthru/Tie Your Mother Down. What a marvellous medley, executed with such power! cool

It was a brilliant show, it also made me want to cry a few times because of all the "RIP Freddie" songs in the setlist - his death must have been truly devastating for so many around the globe. The lead singer quite rightly said "Remember, there really is only one Freddie Mercury. This show is not an attempt to recreate Queen perfectly - because no band on Earth can do that, or should do that." wink

I also met someone at the gig who I hadn't seen in about 10 years, a young woman called Karen, who dressed up as the Easter Bunny at my primary school (she must have volunteered) when she was about 15 and I was about 8 or 9. I was nice seeing her again, I don't know how she did it but she instantly recognised me - of course I didn't, because the last (and only) time I saw her, she was a rabbit. tongue

Well I think it was better because the tribute was in a large, spacious theatre, whereas the place I saw the Genesis tribute was in a smallish room. The larger space gave the music far more room to fill, and had a better quality to it. The Genesis tribute was brilliant but due to the room being small, the volume of all the instruments merged with each other. This made some songs they played extremely noisy after a while.

Also, the entire Queen show was note-perfect in my opinion. The musicians were very, very, very talented, and they performed everything brilliantly. I was astounded at how they seamlessly stitched songs together; they were all in perfect sync. Best gig I've been to so far. cool

The Watch at Glasgow Ferry. They will be doing the complete Nursery Crymes album plus stuff from Trick and Wind albums plus their own material. Only 12 plus booking fee for a super band. Anyone up for a meet on 4 March?
