If anyone left, then theoretically I guess anyone technically accomplished enough could step in to fill the vacant slot - but I don't think the chemistry between them would ever quite be the same. sad You could call it G2 but I suspect there would be a few of us saying 'Ah yes but do you remember the classic line-up'...!

Funnily enough, this is exactly the situation we have in The Phantoms. People still like to come and see the band and enjoy the gigs but we're painfully aware that people miss Brian - and so do we of course cry

Still, the show must go on...........

Delicately put Helen! I'd just say the OLD line-up grin

Absolutely agree - the chemistry between the guys is special - and I don't think they'd replace anyone if someone had to leave sad So. they'll just have to carry on in to their 90's grin

My next gig?

G2 at Pacific Road on Saturday!! grin

I have a happy image of the guys shuffling on stage in their 90s and us in the audience waving our walking sticks and zimmer frames in the air in appreciation!

(And someone still shouting for 'Harold the Barrel').

My next gig? Snap! G2 Pacific Road (love the volcano image that Neil's posted on that thread).

And as we all pop off, they can do 'For Absent Friends' at the next gig! grin grin

I had that on tape. Haven't a clue where that went! (or any other tapes I had!)

Very cool, Nov!

While on his "Tour Noir" in 1992, Steve signed my copy of the Genesis book "I Know What I Like," along with Armando Gallo (the author of IKWIL) and Chester Thompson. I purchased the book many years earlier while waiting in line outside a Hackett concert. He was playing the Roxy in L.A. The year was 1981. Back then, bands played two shows a night.

Set List for November 27, 1981 at The Roxy
The Air Conditioned Nightmare
Improvisation/Jacuzzi
Funny Feeling
Ace Of Wands
Picture Postcard
The Steppes
Everyday
The Red Flower Of Tachai/Tigermoth
Horizons
Kim
Overnight Sleeper
Hope I Don't Wake
Slogans
A Tower Struck Down
Spectral Mornings
Please Don't Touch

I wasn't aware that Steve had played with The Musical Box in January, 2012.

If you saw Steve Hackett play between 1980 and 1988, go here to see if your show is listed. Click on the show and see the set list

Nope! Mine's not listed. According to my ticket which is in a collage on my wall, I went on Wednesday October 7th, 1981. It was at the Birmingham Odeon and cost 4.
