Echoes (Pink Floyd tribute), tonight. And their gigs are normally FREE! shocked cool

A great show by the guys with some new songs in the set list. And for the first time that I can remember, they played the 23 minute track that they are named after. cool And to top it all, the gig was indeed FREE! We did have to buy the beer though. wink

I've seen two different Lindsey Buckinghams! I think Steve Puddick told me that there are several members who step in and out of the roles. That's the only thing I'm not keen on. I like a band to be a band with the same members all the time

But with tribute bands, does it really matter?

Mind you, I do remember being very attached to the original ReGenesis line-up and was sad when their original singer (Glyn) left. Tony was a great replacement though.

Plus, we probably all love the current fixed line-up of G2 of course.

But for non-Genesis tributes, I'm not too bothered to be honest.

It's like Trigger's broom wink

Absolutely! No one could be replaced in G2. It wouldn't be G2 then, would it?!

I saw Fleetwood Bac the third time with a guitarist that wasn't as good as the previous two times, so I think it's pretty important to get the best for the job and stick with that line up. Otherwise it puts me off going to see them again because I won't be sure of who it'll be. I know when I go to a G2 gig who is going to be playing!

But it would be though. This line-up will not carry on forever - much as we would love them to.

If, say, Grey Lady Down, got much busier and Piers had to leave and, Say Doug Melbourne stepped in, it would still be G2 wink

You're not allowed to though Piers grin

Exactly. Everything comes to an end and I think that if someone left they wouldn't be replaced, they just wouldn't carry on.

I don't think so. By that I don't mean that GLD wouldn't get busier.(before I start to dig myself a nice big hole!) grin

The current G2 line up have been playing for what, 8, 9 years together? I suspect they have all very used to playing with each other (in a musical sense!! digging myself a hole deeper than Gabble's here), and when you watch them on stage you sense they are a bunch of good friends playing the music they love (if not, they're damn fine actors!).

If anyone left, then theoretically I guess anyone technically accomplished enough could step in to fill the vacant slot - but I don't think the chemistry between them would ever quite be the same. sad You could call it G2 but I suspect there would be a few of us saying 'Ah yes but do you remember the classic line-up'...!

Delicately put Helen! I'd just say the OLD line-up grin

Absolutely agree - the chemistry between the guys is special - and I don't think they'd replace anyone if someone had to leave sad So. they'll just have to carry on in to their 90's grin

My next gig?

G2 at Pacific Road on Saturday!! grin
