I saw Yes at the Kulturpalast in Dresden today. Quite an odd experience, because the venue is normally used for classical concerts, musicals and theatre projects. So there was a wardrobe and there were fine dressed ladies to open the doors after the bell rang. And the place was seated.

The concert was pretty cool. The band kicked off with some classic hits from The Yes Album. The middle section was a clever mixture of tracks from the new album, including the Fly From Here suite and tracks from Drama, which perfectly fit together. Especially Machine Messiah went down a bomb.

At the end classic Yes again from Fragile and CTTE.

A nice evening, not as exciting as an average IQ show, but still very good.

I'm sad I missed the Toronto Prince shows. I already had those two nights booked with other things. I've seen Prince 4 times previously and I still think he is the most phenomenal live performer I've seen.

My next concert is Feist at Massey Hall this Thursday.

The Phantoms gig last night was really good. smiley The setlist was very interesting and varied and covered all eras from the sixties to the noughties. Where else could you see a band cover AC/DC's Highway To Hell and then follow it with Abba's Does Your Mother Know? shocked grin wink It was also nice to finally meet Mr Flower Kings AKA Nov and have a chat. smiley I also briefly met and spoke to soldoutfad, so it was good to meet you too.
