Maiden were very impressive last night. That was the 7th time I have seen them and probably one of the best. You are right, the new songs worked very well with the older songs. It was great to hear Dance of Death live and a couple off Brave New World. Its incredible that a band like Maiden do not need to play a lot of their obvious favourites in the 80s anymore. It shows their last 20 years of material has been really strong and has been enjoyed by the fans cool

AIRBOURNE were incredible again last night to grin

Sounds like another impressive show.Like you say what a testament to a band( who released their first album 31 years ago)that the material now is of such a high standard that a lot of the old favourites didn't get played. But when you look at songs like El Dorado they are just instant classics.

Went to see Status Quo last night seeing as they were actually on the island as part of Cowes Week... now I know they get the piss ripped out of them, but you can't take way the fact they are a great live band when they're playing the likes of Caroline, Mean Girl, Rain, Roll Over Lay Down etc what not to like? I really quite enjoyed it.
I'm always surprised they never cracked the US, I'd have thought their 'head down no nonsense boogie' would have hit the spot, but obviously not.

Funnily enough what hit me most this time was Rick Parfitts rhythm playing, that guy has gotta be right up there with Malcolm Young, Rick is a real powerhouse and really drives that Quo sound.

Well a rather impromptu dash down to Cowes last night got me to see Dodgy free as part of the Cowes Week bill of events.
They're a band I always liked in their 90's heyday but never got to see, this was the orignal 3 piece line-up.
They kicked off with a storming 'In a Room' with some imense 'Moony' like drumming from Matthew Priest, the other hits were obviously there; 'Staying Out for the Summer' and 'Good Enough' but they also played a couple of new tunes, one called 'Shadows' that was really good. They encored with a cracking cover of The Who's 'The Kids are Alright'.

Pretty damn good for a free entry gig wink.

You just have to ignore the yachties who think they own the place rolleyes tongue
