Great albums at a bargain price

This will take me up to 13 of the 18 Rush studio albums, excluding the covers album Feedback. I will now just be missing Rush, Caress Of Steel, Hold Your Fire, Presto and Test For Echo. I do have a few tracks from the first 3 of these on the compilation album Gold. Considering that 2 years ago the only Rush album I owned was a vinyl copy of A Farewell To Kings, I think I've done quite well. smiley As far as the live albums go, I only own Exit... Stage Left and Snakes & Arrows Live, so have some way to go. That said, it seems that the band released a few too many live albums after 2000. wink My Rush fandom can certainly be best described as "better late than never". smiley

I think they qualify as your second-favourite band.

They are now my second most collected band and certainly my most played band over the last 7 or 8 months. But in the overall scheme of things, I would still rank them behind Pink Floyd, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Porcupine Tree, Peter Gabriel and Coldplay, as well as Genesis of course. wink

I've just come back from shopping with my son in Peterborough and we went a bit mad in HMV.

Here's what we bought between us:

David Bowie - The Platinum Collection
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Depeche Mode - Songs Of Faith and Devotion
Depeche Mode - Violater
Coldplay - X&Y

Despite no encouragement from me, Coldplay have become my son's favourite band. He's 13 so I think it's really good that he's discovering his own favourite music. His next fave band is Muse. I think you would approve Nigel wink

I don't mind him liking Coldplay but if he starts supporting Arsenal he's out on his ear!!

Glad you agree with me. smiley Having said that, do you still "hate" Matt Bellamy's vocals? wink

I have trained my ears to get used to them, and now I quite like them. Yes, they can sound rather strained and overblown at times, but I kind of think it adds to the music a bit. It's what makes it Muse. smiley

I've always thought Muse's music has a lot more variety to Coldplay, and that's why I prefer them.

Hi there

Just treated myself to the following...

Ian Anderson - Thick As A Brick Pt2.
Seth Lakeman - Tales From The Barrelhouse.
A-Ha - The Final Concert

Might finally get some non-Genesis listening in now that the new edition of TWR is finished grin
