I have it.TBH The Wake isn`t one of my favourite IQ albums and of course this is what you get..

•the remastered version of the album
•two additional discs with:
work in progress rough mixes
•studio outtakes
•demos
•writing sessions
•a fourth disc (DVD) containing:
•47 minutes of ultra-rare live video from 1984 (the oldest existing footage of the band)
•a full album video commentary by Peter Nicholls, Mike Holmes and Paul Cook
•the multitrack files for a DIY-mix of the song “Corners“
•2 and a half hours of additional audio-material and interviews as mp3 files.
•a 60-page-full-colour-booklet featuring an in-depth account of the making of the album, illustrated with rare unseen photographs and contributions from all members of the band.
•there is also a double-sided poster featuring the album artwork and memorabilia

So if several versions of the same song is your sort of thing you`ll be quite happy.
The`47 minutes of ultra-rare live video from 1984`has appalling picture quality by the way.
Still,as a fan,you have to have it don`t you wink

And now I`ve just got "The Wake" live cd/dvd

Have you ever wondered what you'd get if you crossed Prince and Frank Zappa with Sheryl Crow and En Vogue and Thomas Dolby? Of course you haven't. No one would. That would just be insane.

The critics savaged this album, mainly because it includes four "experimental" songs that are bloody awful. But if you're a Liz phan, particularly of her folk-pop Crow-type stuff, there's a half-dozen good tracks here to make it worthwhile. (Just don't say I didn't warn you about the sh*t that's on there.)

I used to have this cd and quite liked it. Gave it away in the end I think. However, if they ever get round to remastering it, I'll probably buy it again. Personally, I love Grendel, precisely because it does sound so much like Genesis. wink

Never heard of her I have to admit...but I'm not a fan of Sheryl Crow so I doubt I'd like her.

So her new one is out now? Big fan here. Went to see here live last time she was around. I've heard a lot of mixed comments about Funstyle. Still, I'll probably pick up a copy. I don't mind weird stuff. Too bad though, because she has the ability to create some brilliant pop songs.

I don't care for Sheryl Crow either. And can't say for myself that she reminds me of Liz in any way. Not the best comparison if you ask me.

There's also a bonus disc called Girlysongs that I haven't listened to yet. Stuff she recorded in her early days that have apparently been floating around amongst fans. I'm looking forward to checking that out over the weekend.

I'd love to see her live, but I don't think my wife would be into it. I've taken her to see Suzanne and Sarah and Aimee, but I drew the line at Alanis. This one might be going too far for my soft-rock-listening spouse.

I hear a resemblance in the vocals and style of a few of the new songs, more so than on any of her previous albums.

Then again, I hear a resemblance between the Lightning Seeds and the Pet Shop Boys, so what do I know!!
