Always interested to see what people are buying. Had a bit of a spree this week as I got paid and also got some tax back.

Bought:
Barclay James Harvest: Live Tapes
Eloy: Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes
Mike Oldfield: Millenium Bell Live (CD/DVD)
Tangerine Dream: Sorceror
Queen: Rocks Montreal (DVD)
Rory Gallagher: Complete Rockpalast Concerts (DVD)

They should keep me going for a few days

My latest purchase arrived yesterday:

Opeth - Ghost Reveries

I have a copy of this, but I love it so much I just had to have the original.

Probably my favourite album in the 'heavier' music section. Great contrasts between the death metal growls and the folkier, proggier sections. Brilliant.

Sadly no Col, but I'm not too bothered about that. A colleague in work lent me an Opeth dvd, so I know how good they are.
There's something about Ghost Reveries that gets me every time. I just love the contrasts throughout the album; the loud and the soft, the brutal and the subtle. They never lose sight of the melody, even during the heaviest parts of the album.
Having four Opeth albums now, I would have to say that, overall, they are my third favourite Swedish band, and I've heard quite a few. cheesy

Procol Harum In Concert With The Danish National Concert Orchestra and Choir -

After the first viewing/listen, I must say that Procol Harum, in the lineup that exists on this DVD, is one of the tightest live bands around today.

Geoff Whitehorn plays lead guitar with a fervor that you rarely see onstage anymore, and Gary Brooker is as good as he ever was, his voice near perfect on every song.

Gary's songs with Procol Harum have always taken the listener on a journey of the mind and soul (albeit with a bit of tongue-in-cheek), and this time it was no different.

I have to also say that Procol Harum's music goes hand-in-hand with orchestral arrangements, as well as choir arrangements.

The one word I'd use to describe this disk is "MAGICAL." If I had to come up with another, it would be AMAZING! shocked

Ned will get Dave to sort some stuff out for you grin winkwe have followed them for 25 years, they are local to Sheffield but have a cult following.
they started out as a covers band but have a long and illustrious history of their own material.
They have played under the names also as World Turtle smileyand Von Daniken.
They do folky stuff too as Tree Beard.

Nov and I saw Echolyn last year at Cal Prog in Whittier, California. They were the headliners. Awesome performance. Here are some photos I took at the gig.

Geoff has recorded with the likes of Paul McCartney, The Who, Roger Waters and Bad Company. The guy is a class act. Glad you got to see him perform live MM smiley
