This new album is a collection of songs from their previous albums re-recorded live in the studio. Matthew Parmenter of Discipline is a guest artist. Great stuff! Tiles are often compared to Rush.

One or two standard things, and this:

It's the "Classic Albums Collection" from ELO; essentially, it's all the studio albums in a single package. At GBP 30 (from Amazon), it's hardly expensive, and for some reason I've had a few ELO songs on my mind.

I've never been a huge fan, frankly, but this is a nice way to catch up a bit.

Just ordered Djabe- Down and Up (A new name for DAO?) - http://hackettsongs.sandbag.uk.com/Store/DII-3289-4-djabe++down+and+up.html

They sound a little like Bruford/Earthworks, and at 10 (which my wife is paying - birthday pressy!) it's got to be worth it, particularly <quote>

"DJABE - DOWN AND UP

Down And Up is the brand new 2012 album from Djabe (their first studio album since 2008). Honorary Djabe member Steve Hackett plays guitar on five tracks on the album and also sings the closing track on the album Tears For Peace (which was written by Steve's wife Jo).

The CD also features some bonus video footage including the band performing Steve's track Camino Royale."

Have now heard the album, very good it is too. Steve appears on 5 tracks, including the song "Tears for peace" music by Tamas Barabas (Bassist and composer of most of the album) and lyrics by Jo Hackett. Steve sings, and it sounds pretty "unprocessed" so for those always wishing to hear him sing for real, this is it. Enhanced CD flash video items are a live version of one of the album tracks "Dark Soup" played in Vienna this year with Steve, and a totally different studio recording of Camino Royale by Djabe and Steve (not the GR2 version). Again, vocals are sounding untreated. There's no video (just a still streetscene) but it's a .flv file.
