Mandalaband III - BC (on its way as I type)

Panic Room - new album 'Satellite' which is getting rave reviews (go to Amazon.co.uk and check the reviews out). Their debut is excellent and this is said to be even better.

Recently got the latest Pat Metheny album 'Orchestrion' and what a complete and utter waste of money. Jazz noodlings/improvisation cack and boring beyond belief. Never was a fan of the guy although some of his soundtrack work was not bad and took a gamble on this. It has already been handed into a charity shop. Major disappointment.

Ned, if you've not got The Way Up on CD or DVD, I highly recommend them. I agree, some of PMG's works are not very impressive, or even listenable, but some of it is pure greatness; The Way Up being the latter.

I have this way up and its not too shabby at all. The new one is simply awful to my ears and I cannot even get beyond the first 3 minutes of the 15 minute track as it - along with most of this album - sounds like he has simply taken up the guitar and completely improvised jazz ramblings. I put this alongside Beauburg as a disc really only fit as a coffee or tea coaster.

I take it you don't like it then... lipsrsealed

grin

Recently bought:

Wishbone Ash - Argus

The classic album from '72. I never got round to buying it back then, for one reason or another, though I do know some of the tracks off it.
This is the remastered edition, with three bonus live tracks. Normally, I'm not keen on live tracks being tagged onto the end of a studio album, but these three are classic songs - Jail Bait, The Pilgrim and Phoenix. All very good indeed. cool

Listen up guys and gals for one stonking stunning album:

Echoes - Nature Existence.

Here's a candidate for album of the year..... from Venezuela, no less. Truly stunning and complex melodic compositions. And can these guys play. Vocals are top drawer courtesy of a number of guest singers who all speak English. Instumentally this is up there with Riverside and will blow you away - trust me.

Nature/Existence, their debut work on ProgRock Records, borders on near flawless genius, a disc of pure progressive metal brilliance.

This band play diverse musical movements with emotions of passion, love, melancholy, and sorrow.
Honestly, I can't say enough about this album as there were times when my jaw dropped.

Just received all of the above in the mail, all at once shocked

It's going to be a heavenly weekend, with the likes of Roine, Jonas, Nad and Lalle, plus the Riverside and RPWL DVDs wink

Has anyone got any of these items and can give me a brief critique? Much appreciated smiley

Sounds like a once-in-a-blue-moon disc, Ned! Can't wait to hear it grin
