Beautiful album artwork, though. And based on your brief descriptions, I may just check them out.

Of those three, which would you recommend first, considering I'm a fan of Genesis (mostly before there-were-three), Floyd (Meddle through The Wall), and more recently Flower Kings and Porcupine Tree and The Pineapple Thief. Love a good melody... long jams not so much.

Astra actually contributed their version of Floyd's "Empty Spaces" to the Wall Rebuilt CD. They are a jam band, but in the prog/psychedelic sense. Very good music, along the lines of Floyd, The Nice, Hawkwind. Highly recommended.

Izz sets the bar high for American progressive rock. Their vocal harmonies are a treat. I absolutely love their last album, The Darkened Room, and critics are saying Crush of Night is even better. I can't wait to play it this weekend. I saw them perform at CalProg a few years ago and they were wonderful.

Received on Thursday from Psychedelic Ensemble -

Art of Madness
The artist believes that creativity and artistic production are symptoms of mental illness. Each song is based on a different manifestation of madness. Stunning and beautiful work.

The Myth of Dying
The artist captures in music what it must be like to know you have died and left this physical world, transcending into the spiritual realm. This will leave an indelible impression on the listener. Amazing.

The Dream of the Magic Jongleur
These are songs that draw the listener into the realization that we take for granted everything around us. Beautifully crafted melodies and complex rhythms.
