My Dad bought this album from HMV for the same price last year. I haven't heard the album, but Dad said it was disappointing. undecided My Dad was also even more disappointed with The Best of The Smiths, which he recieved as a Christmas present last year.

I'm not a big Thin Lizzy fan but that price is fantastic. I listened to the whole album via Spotify and was reasonably impressed. The Smiths, on the other hand, are a band that I totally and utterly despise. angry

Just pre-ordered ...
Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Americana

It's an album comprised entirely of traditional American folk songs like Clementine, Oh Susanna and She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain.
My immediate thought was: Good God, I won't be getting that one.
But leading up to its release on June 5, Neil, through his website and YouTube has given people a chance to listen to how some of these songs have been radically reworked and given the NY&CH treatment.
To my own amazement, I'm now actually quite looking forward to hearing this album in its entirety.

Astra - "The Weirding" - 2009
A wonderful throwback to early progressive rock. You get a great retrovibe listening to this album. Wonderful guitar work. plus analog synths. These guys can jam!

Astra - "The Black Chord" - 2012
Take a trip back in time. Some critics have called Astra's music a cross between early Pink Floyd and Wishbone Ash. Lots of Hammond organ and wonderful guitar work.

IZZ - "Crush of Night" - 2012
On the heels of IZZ's amazing "The Darkened Room" album, CRUSH OF NIGHT gives us gorgeous keyboard and guitar solos in a bed of sophisticated American prog. Very contemporary and fresh.

Beautiful album artwork, though. And based on your brief descriptions, I may just check them out.

Of those three, which would you recommend first, considering I'm a fan of Genesis (mostly before there-were-three), Floyd (Meddle through The Wall), and more recently Flower Kings and Porcupine Tree and The Pineapple Thief. Love a good melody... long jams not so much.
