CD

This Note’s For You tends to get tarred as another unconventional ’80s album from Neil but I actually regard it as one of his best post-70s releases.
I have a couple of unofficial live recordings from that tour which I’ve always really enjoyed and will definitely be picking up the official live release.
I think the extended version of “Crime In The City” he did on this tour is worth of the price of the CD alone.

Now listening to:

The Mute Gods - Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me (Thanks to COT again)

And very good it is too. Quite atmospheric in parts with some haunting melodies. Definitely worth a listen or three. smiley

There are moments on the album that sound very much like Blackfield. It appears that performing with SW these past few years has influenced Nick's songwriting a bit.

Some of the songs come off as pop music, but there's so much more there. It's very polished. I enjoy the album very much, even the song I originally said was a throwaway.

Great choice! Probably my favourite Focus album. cool

Now playing:

Anima Mundi - Septentrion (Thanks to my good friend Dave)

My first listen and it's another impressive release by this underrated Cuban band. smiley

Steven Wilson - 4 1/2

Interesting album as it shows, how one particular riff/theme can be the source of several completely different songs. The live version of the PT track is particularly awesome.

Played this earlier. Depending which way you look at it, you could call it either 'classic' or 'typical' Wilson. You can tell his songwriting style a mile off. Is it worth having though? Yes, of course it is. Very good indeed. smiley

Now listening to:

Anima Mundi - Live In Europe

It has to be said, this is seriously powerful, beautiful, symphonic rock music. The recording and production are top notch and the performances compelling and spot on. Highly recommended. cool
