Don't know if this'll work where you are, but New Order appeared on it:

(seeing as you seem to hgave turned over a new leaf for the new year, your "level 42 gag even made me laugh!)

Hated this album when it was first released. As a fan from their punk days I thought it was total sell out. Strange how it has lasted the test of time, love it now.

Yeah, a lot of people were put off by it, particularly the "punk" die hards, but I get the impression that they just wanted to take things a step further after the big success of London Calling.

I don't listen to this album very often, so it always seems bit unfamiliar every time I do, apart from the tracks that got some airplay when it was initially released. I can't help wonder that it might have been a much stronger double album, or even a couple of very interesting single LP releases. I guess they just had a bunch of ideas that they wanted to get out there. I do like it though.

I finally had a chance to watch the concert DVD last night and I was blown away. Reading the liner notes, they state that the band played 3 nights in a row at the Roxy and wore the same clothes each night in case there was a problem with the filming. It turns out that none of the nights turned out well. The audio was not syncing up with the film. It took all these years (over 40 years) to be able to apply the technology required to sync the audio to the film. Apparently the audio was not just a consistent few seconds off from the film, but got exponentially worse as the recordings went on; ie, 2 seconds off, 20 seconds off, then back to 2 seconds off, etc. There was no way back in 1973 to fix it. I'm very glad they were able to get it right because the show is fantastic. The film looks great too. Highly recommended for fans of FZ and the Mothers of Invention.

For me, what is so incredible about the film is watching and hearing this amazing band play live. Some of this music is just mind-boggling. Of course, the last 15 min of the show is a bit silly, but easily forgettable.

Agree with you, Henry. The concert was amazing, but the last bit they surely didn't need to add in. Utter nonsense.

Is there any noticeable difference in the remastered tracks Dave? As for the 20 min epic, it's good to know Neal's still involved in some capacity with the band. smiley Does it sound more like their earlier stuff or their later?

To my ears, the songs sound much crisper and clearer, Carl. This really is an ultimate collection of the best of SB.

You'll hear for yourself wink

It's been awhile since I'd heard some of these earlier tracks, so quite a treat indeed.

David Bowie- Blackstar.

Only bought this album on Friday. Only now getting round to listening. Poignant, sad, reflective, experimental, jazz influenced, progressive, amazing, a work of art. What a way to leave us. Still devastated.

I replaced the first 4 SB albums for remasters and they sound clearer/brighter.

Great album and music, though the lyrics are his final thoughts on life.

Very sad...Makes me want to cry sad
