No, Carbonara was later smiley This one is from 1980 and completely with English lyrics, it is a concept album about a fictitious radio superstar named Rocko J. Fonzo. Music and lyrics throughout are parody of the 1980's music scene. Musicwise top-notch, the lyrics are sometimes in bad English but with sarcastic messages. A few quotes:

"The record deal looked pretty unreal / had goldleaf paper and a waxen seal / but one small clause just had me beat / said 'we own you heart, mind, soul and teeth'"

"They find their heavy metal disco flop reggae bop / and call it brand new wave / And the punk-pub-ska-blah all acoustic do dah / gonna hit the parade / Kill your girlfriend and then commit suicide / get a lot of press / No comeback, but you're a legend / is that what you call success"

"Across the eons of time, their leader Babyatollah Comedownie travelled through the seven heavens to collect the majestic feelings of the inner silence of empty space. Rocko J. Fonzo sought-out the master and in the end they beheld the final step between nothingness and entertainment!"

"Her eyes well they squint / and she tastes like weazel / she's all used up / but she pulls it in tight / She tells everybody / she's Jagger's diseasal / but you shouldn't care / she's right for a night"

"Frustration is your measure / expensive cars your treasure / You should start screaming out / Hey, you don't get no pleasure / You adore the names / you start these games / Mass Attacks - Mass Media / Mass Turbation - Mass Production / The dirty taste of money / is the reason for our smile / You ain't need to take no speed boy / We'll spit the bile!"

I guess they are Zappa fans... wink

and, I guess, not Sex Pistols fans, eh? wink

I have a live version of Carbonara, on DVD, so didn't know which album it is from. I guess this one is the first post-Nina Hagen album then?

My passing interest is mainly due to being a fan of Rainhold's girlfriend, sadly deceased since 1991, Rosemarie Precht, aka Cosa Rosa. her 3 albums are excellent, with him as collaborator of course. Reinhold has been a success since then, he is/was part of a trio called "Pale 3". A Genesis connection? Oh yes, another member is Johnny Klimek, brother of Janey who is on a Tony Banks album.

"One wish?"
"Yes, one" said the genie.
"Simple! I'll have the musical talent of Steve Hackett" I replied!

Exactly what I thought. Very much like David Gilmour on vocals too.

Yes, this was the first post-Nina Hagen album. I'm not too familiar with their subsequent works but there's another cool song besides Carbonara: 'Déjà Vu'. Oh yes, that Klimek connection is indeed funny! Cosa Rosa and Pale 3 I never knew of, you know more about German music history than I do cheesy
