No, I don't agree. I continue to enjoy the diversity and creativity of cinema. As with any cultural or artistic forms, there is a proportion of rubbish, and I don't feel that over my several decades of film-going that proportion has particularly increased. And I thoroughly enjoyed Rogue One!

Think of the money I just saved you. I might even have prevented you choking on popcorn.

While I agree with the premise that Hollywood certainly engages in the money-grubbing practice of recycling mediocre remakes and sequels that already have a built-in audience, I think there are enough quality films being made to satisfy everyone.

Friday night I watched Hidden Figures at home and Saturday I saw Wonder Woman in the theater. Both were immensely enjoyable though of course very different experiences. Tonight I'll watch The Leftovers and American Gods and Twin Peaks on TV. S'all good. smiley

I'm actually really surprised with the reviews for Wonder Woman. I guess every now and then, there can be truly great superhero movies, though it seems that right now a lot of them are mediocre and shoved out way too often.

I watched Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice a few weeks ago and it was a chore to sit through, so I assumed that Wonder Woman wouldn't be much better.
