Did anyone watch the new Top Gear? Wasn't that impressed by Chris Evans trying too hard to channel Clarkson undecided

He should have tried to be himself rather than just repeating some of Clarkson's catch phrases. I also didn't like how he tried to rev up the audience - the old team didn't have to do that.

I thought Matt LeBlanc showed promise but I hope they don't stretch the US vs UK thing out too far. I liked his segment in the Nomad, but the Blackpool challenge didn't really go anywhere. I didn't like the segment with Sabine Schmitz at all.

Well, as someone who had tired of the old crew years back, I thought it had a little promise. The first show was always going to be a bit "difficult", underneath "that" shadow. Hopefully, it will move on reasonably quickly. The 3 wheeler bit was just utterly pointless, it should be on the cutting room floor. They mentioned kitten at one point, and I wondered, are they trying to be clever, or have they never heard of the Reliant Kitten (4 wheel version of the Robin) and it was just coincidence? If they were trying to be clever, it fell on it's face.

Sabine's bit was the best bit, and frankly, I hope she gets more to do, for she is really the only one who knows what she's talking about!

I've never liked Chris Evans. He's one of those guys you just want to hit when you were at school because he would not shut up and annoy you!... Yes, I found him trying to copy Clarkson's humour. Matt on the whole, was OK and did not try to be someone he was not!.... The programme itself, was a take off from the original series. We will have to see how this series pans out over the weeks. Looking forward to seeing Jenson Button in the next episode..

Currently watching a horror film: Darkness Falls

I've seen it before. It starts out quite promising but the ending is an anti-climax. rolleyes

Been watching old episodes of The Invaders every week night lately on the horror channel 8 - 9pm. Used to love watching that back in the sixties - of course, we only had a black and white telly then so we never saw it in colour. Now I watch it in colour and you'd never think it was 50 years old! It was one of my favourite sixties shows, along with The Saint and, my favourite of them all, The Avengers! All good stuff. cool

I caught the episode the other night which was pt 2 of the story with Michael Rennie in it. As you say, one of the top shows of the 60's, along with, for me, The Prisoner. Roy Thinnes played his part perfectly.

This week there seemed to be too many oddly-assorted stars milling around rather aimlessly on the assignments did I mistake Jenson Button for Chris Martin, or did they both appear? Id wandered off to do the washing-up long before the end, which cant be good.

Curious what you thought of that. I have my opinions but will save them in case any spoilers are in there.
