We have elections coming too. One thing is crystal clear by any means: Merkel's time is over.

Living in California also pretty much determines that your vote doesn't count. The east coast votes get counted first. By the time they reach the west coast, the election is pretty much determined. Kind of sucks.

To avoid any unpleasantries I am not posting this on the RIP Keith Emerson thread, but I am hoping that thread will not be littered with "I was never a fan, but..." posts. Why can't we just honor an artist for his or her inarguable talent and influence? It bugged me with Bowie... "Never liked him, but..." Geez, quit it. Just sayin'. sad

embarassed

Perhaps honouring an artist you don't have a particular love for is even more respectful?

Just sayin' smiley

I think this is a special Bowie thing though, or it accounts for him more than other artists. I can't even count how many friends of mine have said to me within the last couple weeks: "I never could get into his music but he was a great artist by any means". Bowie's music seems to have been difficult for lots of people when at the same time hardly anybody seriously doubted it had huge merit as art.
