Oh boy, is this embarrassing: undecided

I'm not American and still I know where every state is (I got 48/50 on an online test, I only got Kansas and Nebraska the wrong way round, but now I know where they are too). You jut have to remember the shapes. Florida's a gun, Louisiana's a boot, Oklahoma's a pointing hand, Idaho's a slope, etc. (and of course Hawaii, Texas and Alaska are super obvious).

You are welcome to place all of our states on a map of Germany. There's only 16 of them, shouldn't be too hard. wink

Sadly I don't know any German states, only cities. Off the top of my head, I can name: Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, Gelsenkirchen and Hanover.

I won a pub quiz once for correctly placing the 48 contiguous US States on a blank map. I did have an advantage as I lived in the US and visited 40 of them.

Embarrasingly I am absolutely clueless about UK Counties....... embarassed

I was wondering what corresponds to other countries' states in Great Britain: counties or shires or something else? I am familiar with such names as Sussex, Essex, Wessex...

Sussex (south of London) & Essex (east of it) are counties but Wessex (west) isnít. Itís an earldom currently held by the queenís third son.
Thereís also a county of Middlesex (around London). Logically there should also be a Norsex to the north, but there isnít, probably because the English enjoy confusing other nations wink

Sounds a bit much! I always think of Disney for their animated films.

British Counties are equivalent of other Countries' States. Often the County name ends in Shire. Here are English Counties....County names are in green. I live in Cheshire near to Cities of Liverpool and Chester.
