CoT's reference was in regards to music not the D&O from this forum!... We should all be careful how we say things, as it has brought some tension to a few of us here already.

It was me who mentioned Down And Out the user first, but I honestly didn't mean for it to spiral into another stupid argument! angry sad

I'm sorry, but I'd like to make a few comments here.

I'm with boredatwork on this one. I don't see anything hateful or meanspirited in her original post.

CoT's post about the Ringo album was perfectly innocent, but which inadvertently did indeed trigger a series of subsequent comments that led to a minor stirring up of past issues. There was obviously no intention on his part to do so, and there was clearly nothing in that post to expect such a result.

As far as I can tell, boredatwork responded to CoT's concern about negativity with what I thought was a clearly tongue-in-cheek comment in regard to that initial Ringo post, simply pointing out goodnaturedly that it was his comment that initiated these other posts, and specifically indicating that she was not being serious and only joking around. Yet somehow CoT interpreted this as being hateful. I truly don't understand how he came to this conclusion.

No one interpreted CoT's "Down and Out" reference as being specifically about a member of this forum. NSOV was only reminded of him by the reference.

There was nothing of particular concern within either of their posts.

CoT's departure seems to be more a result of his own misinterpretation of events.

Thanks Henry. Thatís certainly how I intended it, & Iím mystified as to how CoT took it so badly.

Ultimately I believe that CoT's leaving the Forum has much more to do with the gradual decline of Prog-rock discussion here, and that this fracas with boredatwork was merely a trigger.

Anyone who reads the Music subforums can clearly see that CoT often initiates in-depth discussions of relatively-obscure Prog bands, and with people like Ned and others no longer around, he has lost much of his audience. My perception is that CoT was never really one to engage in the silly banter that often takes place in this part of the Forum and was essentially here for the music. With that element in decline, he was getting less and less of what he came here for. His overreaction to BAW's jesting was a justification for his finally pulling the plug at this time.

And yet, again, he is still here! Hopefully giving it time to cool down before hitting the cancel button! Cool down Dave, we've lost too many good members lately. And this one really was a huge misunderstanding and not your OR Boredatwork's fault. See you in a few days. wink

Saved £35 last night. smiley Thought I would have to purchase a brand new external hard drive after it started failing, but my tech-savvy mother fixed it.

Yes it was, because I answered it. Don't know how COT got the blame? I miss him on the games thread.
