Well, that's quite an interestng interpretation of events...

D&O did indeed imply he was done with the forum, if not explicitly so. Therefore one could easily have interpreted it in that way. And Eric's comment in regard to that post was mainly in reference to D&O's slagging off the forum. D&O reaction in turn was uncalled for, and Eric's response to that was completely irrelevent to the consequences of that comment.

More a factual assessment, with a little satirical embellishment to the last paragraph. DAO's post, in English read "29000 posts and out. The forum is dead. goodbye". You COULD interpret it your way, or equally as "29000 posts and out. It's very quiet around here. See you in a few days". There was certainly no slagging off of the forum. Eric's post was a quite clear assumption that he'd gone, yet in a later post, he stated quite clearly and literally that he knew DAO had not left. (Quote: "I never thought he left for good to begin with but I don't speak Spanish") Hence my question to him back on the old thread. Eric has raised a valid point which I will respond to directly and separately, but unless you can pick a hole in my post, which you haven't, my post stands. DAO's comment was over the top and uncalled for (and uncharacteristic - I have to assume there were personal reasons for his mood. I may be wrong. Maybe time will tell) but Eric chose to respond. No one forced him to!

I'm not sure why we want to rehash this all over again, but I would like to reply.

I couldn't follow up because of the thread being locked, but I would like to clear up a couple of your points.

I never said I knew D&O hadn't left for good. How could I possibly know that? I only said I "expected" him to return, and I didn't post my original reply to his Spanish one because he had left for good. I expected him to return at some point, and probably see it. I posted what I felt regardless of him leaving or coming back.

As far as the "best you can do" comment, it was a sarcastic reply to his clearly trying to bait me. I wasn't going to fall for his lame attempt, and said so. It was so obvious to me what he was trying to do there. Hence the "is that the best you can do". I might not have been too upset because I kind of thought those things were him showing his true self but to think seeing what he called me, and wanted to happen to me didn't bother me, is mistaken.

I never said you thought had left for good. Just that you knew he hadn't left. To quote you: "I never thought he left for good to begin with but I don't speak Spanish".

Seriously? This negative banter has taken the site down quite a few notches.

Give it a break, will ya?

How many times do you have to re-hash all this utter nonsense?

I am completely fed up with it.

(Yes we know it was entirely unintentional on your part, but itís still kinda funny when the instigator complains cheesy cheesy )

P.S. in case of any further misunderstandings, given the glut we've had already, this is a lighthearted comment & not intended to stir anything up further smiley

I guess we're getting caught up in semantics. To be clear, I didn't know if he had left for good or not. Again, how could I? My feeling (thought) was at some point he probably would return, whether that was in a few days or years, I had no idea.

This is water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned, and until recently, long forgotten. Time to move on, and put all this back in the rear view mirror,IMO.

You are one sick puppy. My comment was referring to my Ringo post. I was surprised that it resulted in NSOV's remark about D&O.

I am leaving the forum as of this moment due to haters like yourself. There is no reason for me to stay. All the wonderful people who used to come here and discuss music are gone forever. You can thank yourselves for that. Goodbye.

CoT's reference was in regards to music not the D&O from this forum!... We should all be careful how we say things, as it has brought some tension to a few of us here already.

CoT has now left this forum because of all this negativity.....

I'm sorry, but I'd like to make a few comments here.

I'm with boredatwork on this one. I don't see anything hateful or meanspirited in her original post.

CoT's post about the Ringo album was perfectly innocent, but which inadvertently did indeed trigger a series of subsequent comments that led to a minor stirring up of past issues. There was obviously no intention on his part to do so, and there was clearly nothing in that post to expect such a result.

As far as I can tell, boredatwork responded to CoT's concern about negativity with what I thought was a clearly tongue-in-cheek comment in regard to that initial Ringo post, simply pointing out goodnaturedly that it was his comment that initiated these other posts, and specifically indicating that she was not being serious and only joking around. Yet somehow CoT interpreted this as being hateful. I truly don't understand how he came to this conclusion.

No one interpreted CoT's "Down and Out" reference as being specifically about a member of this forum. NSOV was only reminded of him by the reference.

There was nothing of particular concern within either of their posts.

CoT's departure seems to be more a result of his own misinterpretation of events.

I blame that Ringo character, he's always causing trouble!
Wish he would leave!
