Of course, for that to happen, Scotland will need to vote against independence on 18th September.

I suspect you missed a few there. For example, Chester was also a candidate:

http://chester2017.co.uk/

Which was quite amusing, because:

We have no proper theatre (The Gateway was closed by the council a few years back, due to plans for demolition. It never happened, the building still stands with a tiny "studio" theatre in the basement that is frankly, a joke. There is a local Am-Dram group with a tiny theatre in what I think is a converted 19th C schoolhouse.

We have no Cinema, that closed a few months back, to make way for an Asda, the nearest is now Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, about 8 miles away.

There's an annual "Rock Festival" on the Roodee (A horse racing course) which seems to attract Jesse J every year, which seems like shooting yourself in the foot, frankly.

There's a lot to like about Chester, steeped in history, and a very pleasant place to live, but Culture? huh

The BBC only mentioned the 4 cities I referred to. Maybe there were originally more and a shortlist of 4 was selected. huh

I had a very interesting dream last night; it was one where I remembered almost everything that happened in it. I share my dream whenever I feel there's enough interesting content to make it worth reading. cool

I dreamt that, all this time, Google had kept dozens of secret cameras everywhere all over Earth, and were recording our every move. And so now, they released a new tablet called GoogleLife, which lets you playback your entire life from the moment you are born, and Mum had bought one. I tested it out by watching a clip of myself eating lunch in my secondary school canteen, and showing my brother this. The clip was of course, inaccurate, because there was a large Justin Bieber poster on the canteen wall, which was never there.

Then, for some reason, I was told to visit this strange old town. I went there by train and walked into it through a huge door. I walked around for a bit, no sure why I was told to go there, and I randomly came across a mask stand that was only selling pig and badger masks. I bought a pig one as a souvenir, and I was given a receipt, which blew away in the wind. I then looked at the mask I had just bought, but it had changed from a pig mask to the mask of a human face with a pig's nose. Understandably, I was annoyed, because I could not get a refund without the receipt.

Realising that there was nothing else to do in the town, I decided to leave; but the door I came through was gone and replaced with a tunnel that was caved in. A man directed me towards a large royal bed that was lying there in the middle of the town centre, telling me to sleep in it for one night and go home in the morning when the path was clear.

So, I sat down on the bed, and looked at the mask again. Now, it looked like the old man mask from live performances of The Musical Box. I then decided to play this song on my iPod, but I never got around to doing that because, yeah, you guessed it - I woke up.

Yeah, so the opening paragraph had nothing to do with the rest of the dream, but it was a part of it. Unfortunately, as I was writing this post, I forgot some of the dream (I'm sure there was a bit more to it than that), but I remembered most of it. It's not common that I wake up with everything still there. The night before the last for example, I had a dream which I forgot entirely as soon as I woke up. I'm glad my dream had something Genesis-related in it! cool

As well as being the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Kennedy, today is also the 50th anniversary of one of my favourite Beatles albums - With The Beatles. A top-notch rock and roll record IMHO. cool

codswallop
noun Brit. informal
nonsense.
ORIGIN 1960s: sometimes said to be named after Hiram Codd, who invented a bottle for carbonated beverages (1875); the derivation remains unconfirmed.

I didn`t know that.
