Whenever we read about some older male celebrity marrying a younger woman, both my mum and I remember Mrs. Merton saying to Debbie McGee; 'what attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?'

My favourite Mrs Merton line was her saying to George Best "If you hadn't have done all that running around playing football, do you think you might not have been that thirsty?" grin

The expression "putting the toothpaste back in the tube" is better than "closing the barn door after the horses have left." Surely it's much easier to get the horses back.

"Unringing a bell" is pretty good too, as this is entirely impossible, but I still like the image conjured up by the toothpaste thing.
