Movies I have on my DVR for this weekend:

My Week with Marilyn.

The Ides of March.

Almost Famous (Classic...haven't seen it for years)

Full Monty (for when I feel homesick)

Anybody seen the first two?

Speaking of Kirsten, I recently watched Melancholia. I think I hated it. It was probably the dullest movie ever made about a rogue planet on a collision course with Earth. undecided

A nice twist would be a movie about the inhabitants of the rogue planet trying to destroy the Earth as it's on a collision course with them! cheesy

I saw The Ides of March. It was... ehh. Very good writing and acting, but I found it dull at times. I thought it was going to be a political thriller, but it was more of a political drama. Not a thrill in sight.

I watched Prometheus last night, which was ok. A bit surprised that the woman who performed a cesarean on herself and then stapled herself back together was able to run around as well as she could after a few minutes though shocked

cheesy

I saw it in the theater and was immensely disappointed. Now six months since my expectations were crushed, I think I'll watch it again to see if I was too harsh.

Marilyn movie started out good.

By the time I was half way through I was so irritated with her.

A thumbs down for me.

Watched The Hobbit & loved it - it took a while to endear to the characters, but it's definitely watchable.

I also saw The Impossible starring Ewan MacGregor & Naomi Watts. It is a dramatisation of actual events & tells the story of a young couple holidaying in a hotel on a beach in Thailand at Christmas when a tsunami strikes.
I found this to be a very powerful film with particular attention to the audio/visual combination. It's also a bit of a tear jerker & no doubt contender for the Oscars.

My latest viewing was Quentin Tarantinos new Western 'Django Unchained' starring Jamie Foxx & Samuel L. Jackson. It's graphic & macho as you'd expect, but it's also really, really funny & therefore worth a look.

Have just watched The Girl Who Played With Fire - the second in the 'Millenium Trilogy' by Stieg Larsson. What a great film! Have seen the first one (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) twice now (both versions) and this one and all have been brilliant. Even more amazing, that's approximately 9 hours I've watched and not fallen asleep - a first for me! grin

Great stuff - looking forward to watching the last one (when we've got a spare 3 hours or so!) laugh

I like this not having to work in the evenings (now that I've given up the 'teaching part' of my TA's job!).

We watched Part 3 of the trilogy last night and have just watched 'Woman in Black' with Daniel Radcliffe shocked Very scary but a brilliant film. When I say 'we watched it' - Matt and I did - Greg conveniently fell asleep!! rolleyes Wuss that he is!! grin

I'm becoming a film addict! laugh (perhaps that's why I love Cinema Show so much!) grin

This was my movie of the year last year. Out pretty soon on DVD. Perhaps one of my all time favourites despite it being subtitled.

Untouchable = Unmissable

10/10
