don't remember seeing him in Austin Powers. I hated that film first time I watched it, loved it the second time. Weird, huh?

I looked it up just in case I was losing my mind (I do that a lot nowadays) and he was in 'The Spy who Shagged me' Here's a clip, it was the last 30 seconds that made me laugh, I think they kept going back to his body falling apart and his comments. grin

I also have never cared for Ferrell, though like many people, I'm sure, I enjoyed parts of Elf and Anchorman. Like Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, I find him to be pretentious and smug. Lily may recall a discussion we had ages ago.... I really don't like smug.

Yes I do remember, I know what you mean about the 'smugness' of those comedians. grin (I do, it just sounded funny)

Jimmy fallon would be an example of non-smug?

Fair do's, as they say! I didn't remember him, but to be honest:

1/ I'm not sure I'd have recognised him due to the fez (I know, great disguise, huh?)

2/ I didn't really know who he was until Anchorman, which I think was after this? (And I only took note of him then as, in the Anchorman poster, he looks like a thin version of my boss!)

I imagine Jim Carrey is unbearable company, but have to admit, the guy is funny!

Not weird at all. I've had similar experiences with films the second time around, particularly comedies. I guess sometimes you need the humour to sneak up on you.

Yeah, don't remember Ferrell in Austin Powers either. Never understood his appeal.

We had been putting up with him since 1996!

Although his Janet Reno impression did used to make me laugh.

The Revanant
A very powerful film. Beautifully directed and wonderfully shot, but geez how much can one guy take?? The bear scene alone is amazing.
Could this finally be Leonardo's year at the awards? Maybe, because there is limited dialogue...
grin

8.5/10

I really enjoyed JOY. My person liked it very much too. Jennifer Lawrence is so easy to watch, great actress. Bradley Cooper too.

However, some say it's boring. I'm a sucker for successful against all odds women, I love these kinds of stories.
