I'm looking forward to seeing that, but I may have to wait a bit... next up is Star Trek next weekend. smiley

Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby was the usual collection of loud noise and fast editing. Plus a pallid reworking of Amy Winehouse's Back To Black by Beyonce.

I came out thinking Tobey McGuire (who portrayed Nick Carraway in the film) would be suitable for the role of Uncle Bryn in the US remake of Gavin & Stacey, 'Us & Them'!

The reviewer in the Daily Express mentioned the scene of Gatsby in the yellow car reminding him of Mr Toad in Wind In The Willows!

I'd thought this when I saw it.

Lots of fun... an exciting, action-packed, entertaining Summer action movie. Might have been better for me if it weren't called Star Trek, but that's a whole different discussion.

I'm going to see "Star Trek Into Darkness" tonight. Now bearing in mind that I'm not a trekkie/trekker, am I likely to get something out of this? I used to like the original 1960s TV series, watched TNG for a while and have seen a few of the films. But I gave up when they started making a thousand different spin-off series. grin wink I suppose that given that this film is a (second?) prequel to the original series, I have a chance. And it's free as a friend has enough Odeon loyalty points to cover the cost. smiley

My middle sister got Les Miserables on DVD, and she may lend my mum it this week.

Let me know what you think if you watch it. I think I'm the only person here who has seen it who didn't enjoy it.

I never did go see '42', now it's not playing dies to all the blockbusters. Pffftt.

Anybody seen Hangover 3? One was hysterical, but Two was brutally awful.

You know I'd be interested in your Star Trek activities. It happens that I was away for the weekend, didn't see your post, and just got back online... not that anyone cares! rolleyes

Glad you enjoyed it. Not really in the spirit of classic Star Trek, but a fun movie nonetheless.

Ah, but what about the Kirk/Spock role reversal vis-a-vis the original second movie? wink

Lots of Trekkies didn't like that. In a sense, it mocked the original scene and diminished and belittled the impact of one of the most emotional moments of the entire Trek franchise. I understand that argument. JJ Abrahams has said he wasn't a fan of the show, and there was a lot of shameless pandering throughout the movie. A little more originality would have been nice. tongue
