Wikipedia says this: "motherboard (sometimes alternatively known as the mainboard, system board, baseboard, planar board or logic board,[1] or colloquially, a mobo)"

"Mobo" sounds like some bad guy in a cartoon story cheesy


Oh and for the translation, you'll be surprised, we German speakers call it "Motherboard" or "Mainboard", meaning we don't have German words for it. The German wikipedia tries to tell me it's supposed to be "Hauptplatine" but that sounds to me like something which is not a specific part of a computer, rather like a general term that could refer to any electronic device. "Motherboard" is strictly for computers.
