That's our dog's name. Honestly! So I guess we like it. Congratulations.

(Dog was named after one of the twins in Parent Trap.)

Reminds me of a story.... Before my wife and I had kids we decided that our first girl would be named Hannah, for a variety of reasons, and we mentioned this to family members. When my sister got pregnant with a girl first she announced Hannah would be the name. A big argument ensued, and I promised her that if she used "our name," then I would be sure to name our next DOG Hannah. Suffice to say, she chose a different name for her daughter. smiley

A hapless BBC newsreader announcing that campaigners are challenging the decision to bury King Richard III in Leicester because they want to bury him in New York . er, York.

A cousin of mine acquired a labrador, and I am sure my mum was really put out when said cousin decided to call the dog 'Lucy'. Lucy was my grandmother's name.....

When I named my 2nd lad Matthew, my sister said that if she had a boy she and her hubby wanted to call him Matthew. I said it wouldn't matter in the slightest as the boys would be cousins, have a different middle name and different surname. Three years later they did have a boy and call him Matthew. What's the problem here, Dusty? huh

Part of the reason for the name was to honor my father, who had recently passed away. My sister knew this, and plenty of other names would have done the same. (Naming children after the diseased is partly a Jewish thing.) So I felt that my sister using the name first would have lessened the tribute.

I'm sure there's also some family-competitiveness at play, which I don't think is unusual among many families. Like if I tell you I'm going to buy a blue Mazda RX7 and you go out and buy one first. smiley

Matthew, by the way, is my son's name. Great name, though I believe we parents of Matthews have discussed this before. smiley

We had the same thing in our (non-Jewish) family. My two elder sisters wanted the same baby name and all hell broke loose. grin

I bet Frank Zappa never had this problem.

It took me about 5 minutes to figure that out. I was seriously wondering if Dust's family were holocaust victims, hence they were "diseased".
