Seeing My Morning Jacket five times in seven days with some of the most wonderful, fun, cool, ROCKING friends you could ask for, and the worst seat I had was a 2nd row on NYE!! wink

The final show was a last minute benefit in Asbury Park that the band headlined for Sandy Relief. Still smiling knowing that a band I enjoy so much, would schedule a benefit show after their tour was over, and could've all gone home, but chose to come to N.J. to do what they could to help!

I was lucky enough to hang, and meet the guys back at the hotel late night after the show. They were just as thrilled to be there to help as I was thankful for them for doing the show. As Jim James told me..." Hey man, glad to help, we're all in this together you know" cool

No doubt the highs, and smiles from this past week should carry me right through a rebuilding winter, and back home by spring.

Yeah it was Lily. These guys are all so down to earth, and really cool, not to mention incredibly talented.

I normally give them their space, and not one to stalk in any way, but they're easily approachable, and I just wanted to thank them for their help. They each asked about my own experience with the storm, and wished me well.

JJ got a kick out of my story about finding out about the benefit. My phone was blown up with texts, and when I checked them at lunch, my first reaction was "no way"! Then immediately it was "of course they are"! That's when he smiled, shook my hand and dropped in that classic.

I didn't think my love for this band could be any stronger, but they are in uber legend status in my book! cool

This vintage Simple Minds performance:

I watched the repeat on BBC Four the other night of one of the episodes of "How The Brits Rocked America". Of course Simple Minds only really rocked America for a short while round about the time of that "Breakfast Club" single. wink However, in one part of the programme they featured British bands that were trying America for the first time in the late 1970s and they showed a clip from the above video. I was so pleased to find the whole of that performance of Premonition on YouTube. smiley

This video. Never fails to make me laugh. I warn you though, it's rather weird.

The music is really catchy too. cool

Eric, I usually associate 'we're all in this together' with David Cameron's doings for this godawful government we have, as well as with the film 'Brazil', but Jim James seemed to say this in a way that related to a community coming together and doing something great!

Hey sis. He definitely meant it in a community/personal way. These guys always contribute a portion of ticket sales to a local charity, and even though the last few shows were spoken for, they added some of the same charities that this benefit aided to those as well.

Jim's been know to say some pretty out there things onstage, and had this been the case, it might've been possible he meant something along the lines you mentioned. In a quiet, very late night, one on one moment where he had asked about my own personal experience with Sandy, I have no doubt he was showing genuine concern, and talking about coming together and community.

In fact all the band members were just as concerned, genuine, and thoughtful. Just another of the many reasons why I'm such a huge fan. Oh, and the fact that they ROCK doesn't hurt either! wink

A new word that's appearing - phablet! grin Apparently it's a cross between a (mobile/cell) phone and a tablet, i.e. a device bigger than a mobile phone but smaller than a tablet. As far as I'm concerned, such devices have been around for a while, e.g. the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S II and S III. I have a number of friends who have these so-called "mobile" phones. Whilst they look fantastic and have beautiful large displays, I think they are epic fails as mobile phones because they are just too big. I want a mobile phone that fits comfortably in my shirt or trouser pocket. I would feel most uncomfortable with something as big as one of these Samsung devices in my trouser pocket! shocked grin wink
