I am sure the funeral will be a celebration but also sadness, losing someone who is a part of our lives so fully is hard to adjust to. But now and then a little memory will surface and we hear their past voice still very much alive in our heads and hearts.
I like to think we are born with vacant seats in our heart and there are only a few who are able to be seated and those seats will never ever no matter what be empty..........
Thoughts and prayers with you.

Thank-you A lovely way of looking at it. Monday will be a celebration of his life - it's the only way to deal with it .

Choose friends wisely, the portrait they paint Is who you are and who you ain't. Friendship is life's great support When friends are of the right sort. For all your dreams do they make room, Or bring you down with doom and gloom? You will know a friendship is true When it brings out the best in you.

Don't apologise Steve. You haven't put your foot in anything.
Sorry to hear about your Dad - and I hope that you get through tomorrow without too much pain and sadness.

The more you give, the more you get -- The more you laugh, the less you fret -- The more you do UNSELFISHLY, The more you live ABUNDANTLY. The more of everything you share, The more you'll always have to spare -- The more you love, the more you'll find That life is good and friends are kind . . . For only WHAT WE GIVE AWAY, ENRICHES US FROM DAY TO DAY

Steve - that is really sweet of you, BUT I for one would not have survived as well as I have if it was not for everyone here!! (and Sammy and Joe of course - they are truly amazing!)
It's just great to know that we are all here for each other when the chips are down !

I hope that my little Afterglow Joe won't mind me doing this ..... but he wrote this poem a couple of years ago (when he was 9)! It's about an eagle in captivity!
I have it framed in my bedroom!
I wish I was Free
Every night I long to find my family in the sky. Soaring, gliding and looking for a way out. I spend my day trying to fit through bars. I just wish I was free. I want to know what the jungle is like. I don't have any memories of the jungle. I don't know what my family looks like. All I can remember is hearing my mum squawking and then fading in the mist. "Help me." she seemed to say "Help me. Help me please!" And me wishing I could do something .......but I was only a baby.

That was lovely Rosie, Im sure he wouldnt mind Its so lovely to be able to look at things your children did years ago, they bring back so many otherwise fading memories. Im going to have to go through my stuff to see what i can afford to bring back as the cost per sq meter is quite high, still knowing what im like (a big softy) Ill more than likely leave the "essencials" behind and bring back the sentimental stuff!
