question What has been released in the last year or so?
« Thread started on: Sep 16th, 2014, 07:42am »

All,

I've been out of circulation and out of touch for quite some time, being in self imposed "retirement" from collecting/exchanging live items. But, I'm curious as to what has come out within the past year or two -- recordings finally seeing the light of day, former rarities, etc.

Any information appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Mark.

The person to ask would be Simon Funnel or indeed Andrew "Tony Stark" on here.

I used to collect stuff but these days I find myself sticking with one recording per tour.

Best wishes

Thanks John and having 1 or perhaps 2 shows per tour always made sense, rather than having 100 of what essentially was the same song list night after night. But being a former completest, I had to have them all!

Hi Mark.

I undertand that attitude completely sir. cool

There are lots of Led Zep fans on their forum who feel the same way you do smiley

I have at least one boot from each tour along with demo's etc from Headley Grange and some other stuff.

I rather collect tour programmes though.... I would love a complete set of those....

Best wishes

Hi John,

My most prized possession as far as programs go is the Lamb one I have -- signed by all less Collins. I also have an ATTW3 one that is in fairly good condition, bought at the '78 show I saw in Buffalo -- only the 2nd gig of the entire tour. It was a good concert but strange to watch without Steve on stage, who I saw up there with them the year before in the same venue.

Best,

Nice stuff Mark...and I am always very envious of folk who saw Genesis before I did (1981) wink

I have all the programmes (execpt the Jap 78 tour one) from the two 77 tour programmes including a Knebworth one and the German Open Air festival one.

Best wishes

Nothing outstanding has come out in years. The usual story of people hoarding their rare collections in spite everyone else. Nothing's changed unfortunately. Some people just want to appear high and mighty with the attitude " oh yeah? Well I've got this and you don't so Nyah! Nyah!"

Hi there

I've been lucky enough to get my mitts on just about all of the tour programmes by Genesis and the solo members although a couple are still "Missing in action" and I doubt if I shall ever be able to find them now but then again I didn't think I would get the Japanese Invisible Touch programme (in fact I wasn't sure if there was one) until a friend located one for me so you never know. I think my most treasured ate the fully signed Lindisfarne/Genesis 1972, Lamb and Wind & Wuthering programmes but I treasure them all.

Hi there

I always wondered what that smell was! wink I guess I have been luckier than most but it has also been bloody hard work to track down some of this stuff and even when I think I have it all just about covered someone throws up something I didn't know about such as the 1978 Gabriel postergramme which I never even saw at the gigs! That's the fascination of collecting I guess.

The downside of course has already been mentioned by Tony but there will always be people like that in every walk of life. Sad but true.

Hi there

I guess boot wise the two that interested me the most were the soundboards from the '81 and '83 tours which filled gaps in my collection nicely. I doubt if there will be anything truly exciting circulating in the near future but as I said before, you never know!

The only one I heard of coming out a while back was an OAM recording from one of their Selling England Canada gigs. Date/venue escape me just now.

Hello Mark,

Yeah, that show is GASP 22 Masssey Hall, Toronto OAM 5/2/74 the early show. Another show popped up on Wolfgang's Vault a SBD from the Mama Tour Chicago'83 (streaming only)

http://www.concertvault.com/genesis/chicago-il-november-11-1983.html

Other than those 2 shows and the SH Genesis Revisited shows, its been really quiet on the bootleg front.

Hi there

Currently digitising the last of my archive and think there might be some interesting Hackett recordings that haven't been circulated. If I'm right, once they're transferred I'll make sure The Movement gets them online.
