Rolling Stone mention

This week's Rolling Stone magazine has a nice little photo of Peter, with the blurb:
Peter Gabriel Gets Symphonic Gabriel recruited a 46-piece orchestra for his new concert LP, Live Blood -- featuring new versions of hits from "In Your Eyes" to "Solsbury Hill," plus deep cuts like "Intruder" and "Downside-Up." Stream the album exclusively at rollingstone.com.
See, Rolling Stone's not all bad... though I really only bought this issue for the Obama interview.

That's nice of the magazine to acknowledge the great man. I still wouldn't touch it with a barge pole though.

He's been acknowledged by Rolling Stone before.
Rolling Stone (11/89) - Ranked #14 in Rolling Stone's 100 Best Albums of The 80's survey. Rolling Stone (12/11/03, p.136) - Ranked #187 in Rolling Stone's "The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time"
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8259429
Plus, he's got at least two albums in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Isn't that somehow affiliated to Rolling Stone?
I also doubt there would have been the recent Classic Albums profile of So if it wasn't Rolling Stone-approved.

To paraphrase Emma Bunton - what took them so long? Were they snowed under with Titanic anniversary pieces and first anniversary of Wills & Kate pieces?

For the record, I don't have a big problem with the magazine, though I rarely buy it. I think the problem is that it tries to be all things to all people, so any given issue can include items on U2, Rhianna, Opeth, Adele, JayZ, Avenged Sevenfold, and--occasionally--Peter Gabriel.
It has recently become much more political, and I can appreciate that it's trying to get younger readers more attuned to important issues in the world, beyond Katy Perry's latest hair color.

Had to laugh at Tony Blackburn's comment about Rihanna in the Radio Times; something along the lines of 'She writes and sings all her own material...'
What hold has this one-note R&B latterday Cupid Stunt* got over the Mirror by the way? Has she got uncompromising pictures of the 3AM girls or Coleen Nolan?
*as in Kenny Everett's film starlet character whose movies involved all her clothes falling off.

But always in the best possible taste, of course!

Most British music magazines ignore Peter Gabriel. He might get a mention if he brings a new album out, but he's not revered in the way the likes of Paul Weller, Morrissey, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello etc are.
