You'll love it, peng. You almost forget that these are covers, Peter performs them so well.

I was in my mate's last night, and he has Scratch My Back. He played it for the first time while I was there. To be honest, it's not for me. Ok, it's still got Peter's superb voice, but the songs all seem to me to be on the same level, with hardly any variety. They all seem to merge together.
The orchestra actually puts me off a little and seems to add too much melancholy to the proceedings for my taste. Now, I'm sure the overall effect is exactly what Peter wanted but it's not my type of stuff really. And I only recognised three songs; Heroes, Waterloo Sunset and Mirrorball.
Still, I hope others enjoy it and that it gets good ratings. It's just not my cup of tea. undecided Sorry folks.

I just think it would have been nice to listen to some of those songs without the' no drums and orchestra' rule, the record IS nice but listening to it all in one go might prove a bit heavy and some of the arrangements simply don't do it for me

If you would have listened to Radiohead , you would have recognised 'Street Spirit' as well .... grin. Or maybe not, cos the version is quite odd rolleyes, imo, of course. ( Sorry Peter, I was looking forward to listening to that cover really, but I donīt like it embarassed )

I don't like it either, honestly, which is a shame as I absolutely love the original. I'm actually pretty underwhelmed with Scratch My Back as a whole, though I do like some of the individual tracks. As Chessman said, they all seem to merge together. Granted, I've never listened to it while intently focusing solely on it, but nevertheless, it all sounds for the most part like one big song to me, and it's not something that particularly grabs me.

That said, I look forward to his next album of original work!

Agree with you there Paloma Street Spirit is my second fave behind Fake Plastic Trees. I am struggling with this album and find it quite depressing really.
