This was posted on PG´s site´s Tour Diary:

Madrid - my favourite so far.

Just to fill you in we have (crew only) driven from Avenches 3 days ago to Madrid, stopping halfway in Bordeaux on the way. (So thank you to all our bus drivers, I will get their names next time as the internet is about to vanish - I'm still in the office and everyone else is going to get on the bus, so I'm typing this very fast.)

I almost got left behind in Bordeaux, I did not know we were going to leave again that night. But luckily our 'commander', production manager James Monkman, sent us all call sheets to our hotel rooms to say we were leaving at 12 20 am. So we got to Spain, and it's so great to be here again.

Frustratingly this show did not sell as expected. As I walked around the city yesterday I could not see one poster, and on walking into two music shops could not find Peter's CD ether. On asking the shop people where 'Scratch' was they said that they had sold out. I said that PG was playing tomorrow, and no one had heard about it. Here we are in Madrid, the capital of Spain and people don't know that PG is coming. In the past we have done huge gigs here. Despite that, this show turned out to be my favorite so far.

Peter turned up today hardly being able to talk, let alone sing, due to a really bad cold. That made me worried. I got even more worried when we started the first half and he was really finding it hard through 'Flume'. I really thought we were going to have to stop and take a break, then suddenly in 'I Think It's Going To Rain', his vocal changed and he went for it, cold and all. I got shivers for the first time on that song since we recorded it with Bob Ezrin back at Real World 2 years ago. The audience reaction all through this show, despite the numbers was just perfect, they made a lot of noise at the right time. Plenty of shouting in Spanish and whistling too. Just a great crowd . Thank you Madrid, it was very welcoming.

Oh and our old strings players are back along with their sense of humor! We have got the main crowd that we recorded the new album with and they are much more relaxed than before - and fun too.

So thanks to everyone for the best gig so far. All the players, Mel and Ane and and best crew you could wish for, all our drivers(trucks and busses) and all the audience and especially PG.

Scratch My Back came in at number 40 in Q magazine's top 50 albums of 2010. Read into that whatever you want. wink

I read into it that Q magazine readers have low standards.... tongue

I love this album. I feel that Peter unlocked things in these songs that weren't there in the originals (at least the ones I know). There is such depth of feeling here. I feel that as Peter gets older he becomes more sensitive.
