Got to say that he has got also some bad reviews .... but I think this one is quite fair.

He can´t please everybody, can he?. rolleyes

And I repeat his voice was absolutely stunning.

When he was singing San Jacinto, a man ( I think he is Italian too ) put on his knees in front of the stage and said ' thanks Peter ' or something like that. shocked

I felt so sad that I missed out on PG this tour. I would have loved to have heard some of the new songs live.

Oh well, maybe next time. Phil also didn't tour down here, so I didn't get to see him, either.

Yup, it is very unfortunate that he isn't touring this more extensively in N.A. Hearing this music live with the full force of the orchestra is a fabulous experience. cool

In a word .... awesome.

But I know it is not a show for everybody´s taste, because maybe they are expecting another kind of show .... I mean the concerts he used to play.

There was only 4.000 people, it could be explained maybe because of the crisis (the tickets were expensive ) and because it was a Wednesday. But also because not everybody understand the fact that he is using now an orchestra ....

The arrangements were fantastic and sometimes his wonderful voice was so powerful that stood out ( sorry, not sure if this is the right verb ) over the orchestra. Absolutely amazing.

Got to say that Melanie´s voice has improved since the last time I saw her live, and the other female singer he has in the show, a Swedish woman called Ane Brun, has a fantastic and lovely voice as well.

All the musicians, the conductor, the videos and images they showed .... made of the show a unforgettable experience.

Just a few impressions .... and of course, just my humble opinion.

¡Y el chico italiano, fue lo más! cheesy

Great review Paloma. smiley And your English is very good. And so is your Spanish at the end. wink Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Scandinavian lady (Ane Brun) is Norwegian by birth.

Yes, you are right, she is from Norway. What he said was she had been living in Sweden for several years. smiley

Personally I do not feel the material is the problem, there are of course songs I like more than others but there´s a fine selection on the record, catering for all tastes and there are originally uptempo songs but Peter seems to have grown a bit 'particular' about his music making. He cannot simply cover some songs, nope, he has to have a 'rule'.
The orchestra idea per se got me excited, I found the no drums, no bass idea a bit too radical, it was a risk and imo it didn´t pay off. I´d say something very trivial: it works OK on some songs , less on others and not at all on the remaining. I think we were all curious to hear how it would turn out because, knowing the songs and knowing the 'rule' in adavance, it seemed like impossible to pull off but being a fan I was ready to be amazed by Peter and I trusted he would come up with some brilliant, unheard of solution. To me he didn´t. There´s a reason why some of these songs are classics, actually many reasons, in most cases they were perfect or great the way they are, cover versions are always possible, a different angles is welcome but messing around too much with them turned them into something not as appealing. Simply slowing things down, and playing the intensity card works sometimes, not always, not a whole record.
I agree, his record is long overdue but his recent output: UP, OVO, Blig Blue Ball and this one doesn´t really set in an optimistic, anticipating mood.
Always willing and ready to be surprised by Peter though.

Not my cup of tea...'Heroes' is decent but it all needs...D-R-U-M-S.

In the meantime I was able to talk to a couple of old friends who saw him in Verona, they are all Peter's fans, well, worshippers would be a more accurate term but anyway they enjoyed the concert very much. Mixed reviews on the Scratch my back material, very good reviews on his songs re-arranged with orchestra, overwehlming consensus on his voice, vocally in top shape and he never sounded better they said.

Yes, I have read that the Verona concert was really great, it was going to be recorded for the new dvd, so it had to be that way!.

In any case, as I said, an amazing experience and yes, his voice is like the good wines! better and better.

Mind you, it seems it wasn´t as good in Barcerlona, he had a cold and his voice wasn´t 100%. ¡Bueno, es humano! ¡faltaría más!.

Un abrazo Fabrizio.
