I'm sure Peter would be gratified to read such glowing praise.

He hasn't played OTA and DIY since the the '83 tour and "Family Snapshot" has only been performed sporadically since the '86 tour.
Hardly what I would smugly dismiss as "obvious" setlist choices.

What are you suggesting? That he play nothing from his last two albums. tongue rolleyes

Opinions are free (remember?), and yes I'm not that satisfied, but no comparison between Peter (who at least asked us what we wanted to hear) and our band...
Now, for those of you who do NOT want to start a fight (and I'm the first one of them), let me express this: I knew he would play 'On the Air', 'Family Snapshot' and 'D.I.Y.' even though he last played them years and years ago, simply becase fans voted those songs heavily, is it hard to understand?
Yes, I didn't want Peter to play songs from his last albums, because this Warm Up tour was meant to be a collection of songs from the first albums, that's why the most of the people I know got to his gig in Rome.
I can accept 'Sledgehammer', at least that song was a hit from the past, but I didn't want to hear half of Peter's typical setlist, that's all.
I wonder: is it a crime?
Sometimes exchanging feelings with people on the forums is so hard, someone will have to tell me why one day...
No rolling eyes, please.

Believe me, mate, I'm quoting you with no purpose of controversy at all, I just want to try and express my own points to you.
I mean, do you think I should come here to praise anything Genesis or PG do? Is a forum conceived to show this? Am I not entitled to my own feelings and opinions?
I don't think Peter would be so shocked to hear what I mean about his gigs, it's just opinions, things I've been discussing with my friends as well, and remember: I PAYED A TICKET FOR PETE'S GIG, it was also a bit expensive as far as I'm concerned, but this was a risk I was prepared to take. I think this gives me the right to express anything I want about what I've seen.
Wouldn't it be easier if we all thought we're all Genesis and PG fans, free to have each own's feelings and hopes? Sometimes some people like to think some of us are just trolls, and that's totally unfair.
Is a Genesis fan or a PG fan only the one who says 'yes, wonderful, magic' every single time? Is anyone else a 'dissatisfied troll'?
Anyway, thanks for discussing, at least you don't just make silly provoking comments. smiley

Can I ask you then ... why did you even bother to go to the gig?

it seems with both Genesis and Gabriel's setlists you were never going to be happy. Are your expectations so high that it is spoiling the reality of seeing these guys (in Genesis' case) maybe for the last time?

Enjoy what they HAVE put live in front of you in 2007 mate - it won't last forever (unlike the albums which you can go back to and play tracks like Heathaze and Moribund for eternity).

Blickling Hall was a GREAT gig last night. Just recovering from it. We had some rain but that didn't spoil it.

Hope everyone got back safely. My 3 hour journey back home was ok.

Cheers to all those who were there. Great crowd!!

As you said, just for the sake of watching them live for the so-called last time: it won't be the last time, soon Peter will accept and 'The Lamb' will be on tour, I bet it.
I went to the gigs and I will always go to the gigs just because I want to watch the guys, that's it.
But what I can't comprehend yet is the reason why I shouldn't criticise the gigs...
I have my own feelings and ideas, if I want to get it off my chest I just do that, I can't play it fake and say 'oh yes, Genesis do it right when they play Invisible Touch, that's what us fans want to get'. Sorry, I have my own opinions, I thought it was fair.
I'm a fan, I have my rights to expect something bigger and better everytime, and let me tell you: Peter gave me that something back in '93 and four years ago, Genesis had a good setlist when Ray Wilson was touring with them, so why not be a bit demanding?
Just opinions, mates, is it always so hard to express opinions? I hope I'm totally wrong.

OK Gianmaria, that's fair enough.

Personally I couldn't fault the gigs which were made all the better by the totally brilliant atmosphere in the English venues.
Ok there was one toilet break song, which I chose to remain seated during, probably just because I didn't need to pee grin

Ok, so it's your opinion - you're fully entitled to it - but I want you to tell me what was so good about the CAS setlist (CAS songs aside)? And please don't say DWTMK and Lover's Leap.
